Lahde is a Nigerian Canadian singer and songwriter shaping a lane between trip hop, Afrobeat and R and B.

Born in Abeokuta, Nigeria, and raised in Toronto’s Rexdale community, a working class, tightly knit area known for its challenges and its resilience, Lahde’s earliest memories were shaped by the steady determination of her family to build a better future. Growing up between cultures and expectations gave her perspective early. That duality drives her sound. Late night introspection layered over rhythm. Moody trip hop textures balanced with Afrobeat movement and R and B melody.

Music started young. At four she memorized songs by ear before she could read. By twelve she was formally trained at the Ontario Conservatory of Music, studying classical theory and vocal control.

The turning point came during the summer before her final year of university. Lahde stumbled into George of On3Peat’s studio and recorded her first song, “Reckless,” during an impromptu session. The experience reignited her focus. Months later she was accepted into her first songwriting camp, Creative Space in New York.

From there, she moved quickly.

Balancing her final year of university, full time work and travel to songwriting camps in New York, Miami and Toronto, Lahde sharpened her craft in real time. She learned how to navigate the industry while managing leadership responsibilities and personal growth. Under the mentorship of the late J Hatch and with guidance from producers like Fuse of 808 Mafia, she found her voice in rooms filled with working creatives. Many of her current collaborators trace back to those first sessions, a reflection of loyalty and long term vision.

Her influences stretch across Toronto’s trap and hip hop culture and the Afrobeats and R and B that filled her childhood home. You hear it in the rhythm choices. You hear it in the restraint. Her delivery is controlled but emotionally direct.

Lahde approaches music like architecture. She hears the structure before it is built.

She has already completed three EPs, Auburn , Red Eye, and Sunshine, ahead of her debut album. Sunshine marks the next chapter as she builds toward a global platform.

Her live presence has crossed major music cities, with performances in Manhattan, Nashville, Toronto and Los Angeles.

Now positioned for international expansion, Lahde is focused on longevity. A catalog that travels. A sound that holds up over time.
